http://www.allmusic.com/album/the-rough-guide-to-the-music-of-ethiopia-mw0002413562 Introducing Invisible System and Rough Guide to Ethiopia review Chris Nickson www.allmusic.com / itunes People really began discovering vintage Ethiopian music with the superb Ethiopiques series, which showed just how varied and soulful the scene was in Ethiopia during the 1970s. It's arguable that it's just as vibrant these days, as this excellent compilation shows. There are some international collaborations from Dub Colossus and Invisible System (who are given an entire bonus album with this disc and are well worth hearing, managing to be sonically adventurous, incorporating many elements, including dub, into their sound, without losing the essential Ethio-centric core of the music), but the focus is on the homegrown. There's still soul, from Mahmoud Ahmed, then the strangeness of Krar Collective, who've been garnering widespread praise, and it's easy to understand why. Jazz has long been part of the spectrum and the glorious Samuel Yirga offers plenty here. The overall variety of the disc makes it a joy, an excellent snapshot of a country's music, and an indispensable primer. Add in cult favorites the Ex on one cut and you have a real winner.

Another review in Songlines but not just for the Introducing Invisible System album this time (4 stars last month) but for the Rough Guide to Ethiopia compilation with Introducing Invisible System as a bonus CD. Got 3 stars saying at the end 'There's a bonus CD from Invisible System, which often sounds more authentic than the main album and makes the package a real bargain.' :)

Under the name Invisible System for the album Street Clan under both Cross cultural Collaboration and Best Group. Skip McDonald, Portishead, Ozrics, Eat Static etc on this one and loads of great Ethiopian and Jamaican vocalists and players.
Click the link, vote then either click confirmation link sent to your email or enter the verification code emailed to you.
For the other two categories pick someone you recognise else our ex-student James Findlay for his debut album!
The first album I wrote under the name Invisible System : Punt (Made in Ethiopia) made it to the finals as best newcomer a couple of years back. That had Captain Sensible, The Missions Simon Hinkler, Eat Static, Zion Train, Mahmoud Ahmed etc guesting and it was a nice result for an indie with some major labels and artists in the run who can work full time on it all.
Many thanks to all.

Invisible System: The Cauldron By David Honigmann : The Financial Times An overflow of every possible form of music Invisible System’s cauldron is overflowing with what at times feels like scraps of every possible form of music. The best thing here is “Mama Yey”, on which Sydney Salmon sings a lazy Lover’s Rock tribute to Ethiopia before the song ends with Zewditu Tadesse’s voice orbiting amid tiny pinpricks of harp. Elsewhere, “Coven” throbs with grungy guitars, and “Azmari Fuse” burns up in a blaze of rhythm. For the other two categories pick someone you recognise else random!
The first album I wrote under the name Invisible System : Punt (Made in Ethiopia) made it to the finals as best newcomer a couple of years back and helped me with promotion.
As an independent artist on my own label I am again up against the giants such as Peter Gabriel's Realworld Records and other majors with huge budgets and artists who can work full time on their projects.
So it is tough to survive as they are somewhat unfair and like pitbulls!
Many thanks to all.
Best
